The eChannel Suite essentially helps financial institutions deliver quality electronic channel services that gives them the very vital competitive edge needed in today’s increasingly tech-savvy customer landscape.


Solution

eICBA eChannel Suite consists of several integrated but completely independent products, namely ATM eSwitch, Internet Banking, Corporate Internet Banking, Dealer Terminal and Mobile Banking.

All these products have 24 x 7 operational capabilities to guarantee the highest accessibility and maximum availability. All transactions on eChannel Suite of products are done online, with no downtime, even during the execution of batch processes that are typically required on Core Banking System.


Architecture

The eChannel Suite is developed on open standards and technologies. It is virtually operating system independent, supporting various flavours of major operating systems such as Linux, UNIX and Windows. The eChannel Suite runs on any J2EE-compliant application server such as JBoss and IBM WebSphere.


eICBA eChannel Suite is a cost effective solution with the option for a SINGLE server implementation for small startup companies, while being robust enough to scale up to multi-tier cluster implementations as transaction volumes increase.



Figure 3 shows the various components of the eChannel Suite their integration.



KEY DESIGN CONCEPT:

Multi-Tier solution: The eChannel Suite is a multi-tier solution that is highly scalable and implements network security best practices.

Modular Implementation: Each channel component is completely modular and independent, but yet seamlessly integrated with other modules – allowing a modular approach to implementation of the services..

Shared Web Services: This feature of the eChannel Suite eliminates data duplication and inconsistencies by using shared Web components such as User Profiler, Customer Information, Customer Accounts, Security Matrix. Essentially, this also means that the eChannel Suite has a centralized Administration feature for all its modules, providing a single access point, i.e. single login URL. Its the intuitive and uniform screen design and standardized common configuration interfaces across eICBA eService aims to reduce the learning curve for new users.

Shared Transaction Services: Common business processes such as bill payments and fund transfers are shared regardless of where the transactions originate. Cross-channel integrations, such as service activation on different platforms, generating SMS Token for second factor authentication, sending alerts, reminders, and notification in SMS,  are easily achieved owing to this innovative design.

Dedicated Channel Service: Each channel module implements its own dedicated services complemented by the common shared services. These dedicated services will address the module specific user requirements to ensure efficient and effective delivery.

Communication Manager: This layer consists of various device adapters for linking to different hardware devices as depicted in the diagram. The data transportation protocol built-in to these adapters ensure efficient network and hardware device communication. The Communication Manager is highly extensible as it is able to support new transport protocols in addition to ISO8583, native ATM protocol, XML, fixed length format, SMTP, etc.

Summary: In a nutshell, eICBA eChannel Suite is composed of independent pluggable modules that seamlessly integrated to core component to provide an extensible platform for electronic channel services. The eICBA eService is composed of user friendly Web-based components that provide a simplified and standardized configuration and management interface to the platform. The seamless integration mechanism of the Suite not only delivers essential channel specific functionalities, it also ensures the adherence and standardization to institution-wide policy across the entire systems.
